Happy September and a Thank You Card

Why hello there Awesome Crafty Friends & Followers,

Happy September! Everyone enjoy thier long weekend? What did you do? BBQ? Work? Relax? Craft?

Have you shared this blog with your friends yet? You haven’t?  How come?  Please do so. Help a fellow crafter out.  If you don’t, that’s okay too. 🙂 I understand. Just want to start interacting more with my followers, however you all are so quiet. Leave me a comment letting me know where you are from.

Today’s card is another thank you card. I was pleasantly surprised the other evening when I logged into my business email account, and I had a new customer. Don’t know this lady, but I am very grateful for her order. I sent her this card along with a couple of goodies as a way to say THANKS! thankyousomuch

I love using the AT (Artist Trading) stamp sets we offer. They may be *Small* however they offer a lot for their affordable prices. I used two of these AT sets to create this card. To create the background I used Zen Leaves and created it by doing second generation stamping. I stamped each leaf in it’s own color ( Tangerine Fusion, Pumpkin Bread, Green Olive, and Summer Days) over a Whip Cream panel. Then used the Many Thanks AT set to stamp Thank you over the background in Black Licorice. I decided to round the corners for a more festive look since I was keeping this card pretty simple for mailing purposes.  I pulled out one of my favorite silks- Dark Roast- and sprinkled some here and there over the card front. Also lightly misted with that mister bottle of Sparkle Silk from the other day. A Green Olive Grosgrain Ribbon was placed under the sentiment with a *faux* bow in center. For the inside I added another Whip Cream Panel after stamping So much from the Many Thanks AT set. I also second generation stamped the Zen Leaves along the edges of the panel. To complete this card, I pulled out the Peachy/Orange sequins from the Summer Mix and adhered near the sentiment.

I believe it turned out very nice, and I am hoping that this customer enjoys her products she ordered as well as the ones I sent her. (I kept them a secret in case someone else wants to order. I would not want to ruin the surprise for them)

Well, off to sort things needed as we leave Friday morning. Eek. Almost out of time!
Until later….. Keep smiling… Keep crafting… Keep having fun!!!

Life is Beautiful (And so are YOU!)

Hello Crafty Friends and Followers,

Countdown has commenced here at our house. In one week, Mike and I will be heading to Ft Lauderdale to get ready to set sail on a Seven (7) day cruise to Grand Turk- San Juan, PR- St Thomas, USVI- and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. Cannot wait to get away for a few days. Then we come home to see when his next surgery date is. Then we start the LONG countdown until our next cruise in December when my cousin comes down from New York. That will only be a short Bahamas trip. Fun still!

Speaking of fun, I have created this Life is Beautiful card using another new set from our amazing catalog. I used Lemon Grass, Kiwi Slice, and Beach Breeze PanPastels to create the sky and meadow grass on Whip Cream cardstock panel. *Sealed* the PanPastels with a light mist of Sparkle Silk in a mister bottle. Added a strip of Pink Plaid print from the Good Life Paper Pack on top of Rustic Rose mat. Before adding this panel to the WhipCream top folding card, I then added some Rustic Rose satin ribbon over the *seam* of the two papers. Stamped and die cut the tractor from the set. Used the new fence die we have (LOVE IT!!) from some corrugated cardstock and lightly placed it. Adhered tractor where I wanted it, then pressed fence into place. Using the sentiment Life is Beautiful from the same set, I stamped it in Black Licorice and used matching die to cut it out. Using some foam squares, I popped it up over the top of the tractor. Then had fun adding some Bloom Time sequins to fence, creating an illusion of flowers popping out of fence posts. Also used some sequins from the Summer Mix to complete the card.

Just as the card says, Life is Beautiful, but so are each and every one of you. Now go out into the world and shine!

I’m BACK!!

Well hello Crafty Friends and Followers,

Did you miss me? Notice I was not posting? Yeah- didn’t think so. HAHA I have missed you all though. Wonky late summer weather has been playing havoc with our internet connection the last week or so. Cable has remained fine however my internet, not so lucky! But it seems to be fine for the moment so I am taking advantage of it while I have it up and running.

I took out some of the new stamp sets and papers this week. Can’t keep that gorgeous Good Life paper pack all wrapped up, or can I?? Wanted to show how old and new can mix, and created a Simply Blessed card ( as an all occasion card). I used old colors of Pool Play cardstock with Turbo Teal ink and twine. The stamp set is called Farmyard Friends and has a coordinating die set too. The chicken wire print is from the Good Life collection paper pack, and the heart is die cut from our Heart Dies. The Meadow Pearls match the Peaches & Cream cardstock I used for the pink and card itself. The sentiment is stamped in Black Licorice. I spritzed the entire card front with some Sparkle Silk that I had in a mist bottle. Popped up panel with some foam squares.

I have some *farm* friends who will really find it quite darling to get a card like this from me. 🙂  May send it to one this week.

Hope you all are having a fantastic week! Keep crafting, but most of all- enjoy what you do, and don’t be afraid to share your artwork with everyone!

Nautical Pocket Card Thanks

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today’s project was inspired by my upcoming 7 day cruise. Although we always prepay our gratuities, I wanted a little something to give to those who go above and beyond their job. You know how there are always those awesome crew members that really stand out in some way. Mike and I like to show our gratitude by giving them a little extra other than what they deem reasoable to pay.

I started out by die cutting Demin Days cardstock into 4.25″x5.5′ sheets, and then used the Pocket Card die to diecut them. I then used now retired (but a personal favorite) 6×6 Nautical Adventures paper pad to add some panels to the pocket card. I picked random sheets and used them all on the pocket cards. The paper pad is double-sided so I was able to pick and choose as needed.  I then cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock down to make a small card (I did not measure but eyed it) to fit in the pocket.  I adhered some matching paper from the pad to the front as well. On the front of the pocket, I added a small tag cut from our Tag Time punch andn stamped the word Thanks on it. Added some Black Journey Thread tied into a bow and stapled on tag.  to complete the pocket card, I added a small piece of Oatmeal Cookie Satin Ribbon stapled on top of back panel of pocket card. Left inside of the mini card blank so we can write a personal message once on board the ship. 🙂  I may make a few more as *Just in case we need extras.*

Hope you enjoyed today’s fun creation. What have you been crafting lately?  Leave me a comment below and let me know. 🙂  I look forward to seeing your comments.

Have a crafty week… Until next time!!

Clean and Simple Hello

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope that the week has been an awesome start for you all so far! I cannot complain. We have had some rain and some sun, and the temps are not unbearable, however it has been humid/muggy at times.

Today’s card is a design I have not done in a long while- Clean and Simple. I’ve had this Huge Hello Die for a bit yet never used it.  Today I knew I wanted to pull it out and cut it out.

hello
I started with a 4″ x 5.25″ of Whip Cream cardstock and used a rectangle mask cut from some Inkadinkadoo masking paper using the Journey Rectangle dies. I then applied the mask to the edge of the cardstock, leaving the middle exposed for inking. I used the Flannel Life background stamp to stamp the main focal area, using Peaches & Cream and Fresh Sage inks. I inked one then wiped some off, stamped, and then would do the same with the othr color. After wards, I used the coordinating Piercing Dies and pierced the stamped background image to highlight it, and give another element of dimesion.  I then die cut 3 hellos from whip cream and one from peaches and cream cardstock. Adhered them all together using Journey Craft glue, and adhered it to middle of panel. Used the wooden arrow from Bagabond Chips, wrapping some Fresh Sage Thread around the arrow before glueing it below the hello cutouts. To complete the panel, I sprinkled some Peaches & Cream Silk over the front. I finished up the card by placing the panel on a Peaches & Cream card base, cut and scored to create a tent folding card. Although very simple, I love how gentle and inviting the colors look.

This card took no time at all to create, and I cannot wait to send it out to a friend who I know is going to be thrilled to receive it.

Thanks for popping in, and please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of today’s card.

Hidden Gems Found Among Us

Hello Friends,

Have you ever felt a tad bit off?  Just having one of those mornings when you know that you are all right, however just can’t shake that feeling? Then out of the blue, your phone alerts notifying you that you have a new Facebook Message. It’s from someone who became very dear to our family while Daddy spent his 9 week ordeal in the VA Hospital before the series of in and out stays over the course of the year and half to follow. We shall call her *A* and protect her identity in case she wishes not to be known.  *A* was one of Daddy’s nurses at the hospital and quickly became much more. She would joke around with Daddy, and it became a joke for her to toss socks from the doorway into the room each day. Mom and Daddy got to know *A* and learned she was a single mother, raising her son alone, after her husband’s passing. Now *A* and I got along however we never really clicked until birthdays came up one day. I jokingly said that September is the best month because my birthday fell then. *A* said hers was too. So of course, I asked what day, and was surprised when we both realized we shared the same birthday. She is just a few years older than me. After that, *A* and I became very close. Every day she would fill us in on her and her son’s life. and we would tell her ours. Even after Daddy was released, she and I kept in touch, and Mom and I would go up to say hi on days Daddy had a procedure in another part of the campus. After all. *A* was now family. She is the type of nurse that truly cares for her patients, and does more than just check on their well being. She makes sure that they are as confortable as possible, and that their stay uder her care is as well as possibly can be.  (As well any family that may be staying or visiting the patient.)

The day Mom and I went up to give *A* the heart breaking news about Daddy’s passing, she was working on her usual unit. We happened to catch her alone, and broke the news about Daddy. She immediately teared up, and informed Mom and I that it was also the anniversary day of her husband’s passing. Another thread of our lives binding us together even more.

Every year on 30 July, *A* always takes a moment to let me know she is thinking of me. Used to be thinking of me and Mom, until a year ago when we suddenly lost Mom too. *A*’s compassion is beyond explaining, and I can never express the gratitude I hold for this extraordinary woman.

Yes, I am blessed to have *A* in my life still. And I will always be thankful for her, and although a not so happy situation brought us togther, I never doubt that we were not meant to cross paths. No, it was meant to be.

*A*, again thank you for your uplifting message. It is because of friends like you that make ife so fantastic.

Happy Saturday, everyone. May your day be as blessed as mine has been.

Until next time….

Hugs and Blessings,
Keni
