Birthday Cards with Liquid Colors

Hello Crafty Friends,

Time is not my friend these days, or else I am just not keeping a schedule as I once was. Either way, this post is late, and to be honest, I am disappointed in myself. But that’s okay. I am getting it out there instead of saying *Oh well. I will get back on schedule next week.*  No, I am going to get it done right now.  🙂

I spent the other afternoon creating some much needed birthday cards. Since all three were belated and being mailed, I wanted to keep them as non-bulky as I could. I also knew I wanted to use some of our fun, playful Liquid Colors and the gigantic BDay Wall background stamp.

I started with panels of Whip Cream cardstock trimmed down to A2 card front size (4.25×5.5 inches). I then inked up the stamp using Clear Pigment Ink and stamped it onto the cardstock panel. Applied Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed with a heat gun. Once cooled, I then picked out some cheerful colors from my Liquid Colors that I liked, and placed a drop or two on an acrylic block. (You can use acetate sheets or paint bowls, etc for this as well). Mixed with a little water and then painted it over the embossed image. The clear embossed image resisted the Liquid Color/water mixture. After they dried, I then trimmed them down to be slightly smaller than the original size.

For the blue/green card, I used Turbo Teal and Limeade Splash Liquid Colors. Used some Electric Green Silk for more contrast and completed the card with some Blue Skies Sequins. For the base of this card, I used Turbo Teal cardstock.

The orange/yellow card consisted of the bright Orange Creamsicle and Lemon Drop Liquid colors, along with some Sour Lemon Silk. The finishing touches  of this cheerful birthday card was the Orange Creamsicle card base and the Gold Journey Sequins.

The purple/pink/yellow birthday wishes was probably one of my most fun ones to create. I was able to play with Pretty Amethyst, Rustic Rose, and Peaches & Cream Liquid Colors. The base was made from Pretty Amethyst cardstock. For the festive additions, I used some Pink World Journey Sequins as well as Outrageous Pink Silk.

Hope you like them as much as I did creating them for some special people in my life. I made sure to include personal messages to each, as well as a belated wish for many wonderful blessings ahead. 🙂

Home and Being Sick (Allergies)

Hello Crafty Friends,

Well, vacation was so relaxing and the seven days on the ship was amazing for the most part. Enjoyed a couple of ports of call much more than the other two. And cannot wait for the day that we fly back to one to spend even more time on the island. Yes, I am glad to be home though! However since returning, I have dealt with an allergy related headache. Yesterday it was all but gone finally. Yay! And today it seems to be (shhhhhh) gone.

Our home for the seven days was the Carnival Conquest and we stopped in Grand Turk; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St Thomas, USVI; and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic before returning to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mike and I enjoyed our balcony stateroom, and it was at the front of the ship, which meant long walks some days. LoL

I will have a craft blog up later today. 🙂    Thank you for your patience as I re-acclimated to being home and dealing with some other tenant issues on to of my allergy headache. You all are the best!

I may post more cruise photos next week.

Until later…. happy creating… and it’s more than just ink on paper… it’s also the passion!!

Hugs and Blessings,
Keni

Enjoy the video. And if interested in more info regarding LC, please contact me and I will get back to you once we are back on land. ( I am away until Monday. 17 Sept).

Until the next time, have a happy day creating. And remember… it is more than just ink on paper!!

Cupcake Toppers

Hello Crafty Friends,

August has come to wet end (we have experienced many late afternoon storms here along the Gulf Coast of Central Florida), and September is upon us. Labor Day weekend traditionally ends the summer season, although it is not officially over until 22 September. This past Labor Day weekend we were invited over to our neighbors for a cookout. (The rain even held off!) I knew I had to take something over, however was unsure of what I wanted to prepare. Then I realized I needed something for an upcoming blog post, so decided to make cupcake toppers. Now. considering the group of people we were going to be with, I knew fancy toppers would not mix well with them, I kept them fun and easy. Not to mention, many of the church friends of our delightful neighbors would only toss the toppers into the trash.

I spent one rainy afternoon stamping, coloring, and fussy cutting images from two stamps sets- Tropic-Cool and Beautiful Happiness. I used Black Licorice ink to stamp the images, and then alcohol markers to color them in. You can use whatever coloring medium you have.

To make the actual topper, I sandwiched a toothpick between two circles I punched out using the 1.5″ circle punch. I punched out the back circle out of Black Licorice cardstock, and the front circle from some retired Spring paper patterns. I placed a toothpick with a foam square holding it in place down onto a back circle, added some more foam squares, and then adding the top pattern paper to create the base for the image. I then added a fruit image to each one using more foam squares.

The cupcakes themselves were baked from a cake mix (I used a mix over doing my usual gluten free, almond/ coconut flour batter), divided into thirds. In each bowl of batter I added 1/4 cup of dry jell-o mix (Lime, Lemon, and Cherry) into it and mixed until blended. Scooped a bit of each color/ flavor into the tins (liners were used) and baked as directed on box. Once cool, I frosted with American Buttercream and added a topper to each.

The guests at the cookout  loved the cupcakes and the toppers. 🙂

Until next time, happy crafting! Thanks for stopping in to check out my easy, peasy cupcake toppers.

Happy September and a Thank You Card

Why hello there Awesome Crafty Friends & Followers,

Happy September! Everyone enjoy thier long weekend? What did you do? BBQ? Work? Relax? Craft?

Have you shared this blog with your friends yet? You haven’t?  How come?  Please do so. Help a fellow crafter out.  If you don’t, that’s okay too. 🙂 I understand. Just want to start interacting more with my followers, however you all are so quiet. Leave me a comment letting me know where you are from.

Today’s card is another thank you card. I was pleasantly surprised the other evening when I logged into my business email account, and I had a new customer. Don’t know this lady, but I am very grateful for her order. I sent her this card along with a couple of goodies as a way to say THANKS! thankyousomuch

I love using the AT (Artist Trading) stamp sets we offer. They may be *Small* however they offer a lot for their affordable prices. I used two of these AT sets to create this card. To create the background I used Zen Leaves and created it by doing second generation stamping. I stamped each leaf in it’s own color ( Tangerine Fusion, Pumpkin Bread, Green Olive, and Summer Days) over a Whip Cream panel. Then used the Many Thanks AT set to stamp Thank you over the background in Black Licorice. I decided to round the corners for a more festive look since I was keeping this card pretty simple for mailing purposes.  I pulled out one of my favorite silks- Dark Roast- and sprinkled some here and there over the card front. Also lightly misted with that mister bottle of Sparkle Silk from the other day. A Green Olive Grosgrain Ribbon was placed under the sentiment with a *faux* bow in center. For the inside I added another Whip Cream Panel after stamping So much from the Many Thanks AT set. I also second generation stamped the Zen Leaves along the edges of the panel. To complete this card, I pulled out the Peachy/Orange sequins from the Summer Mix and adhered near the sentiment.

I believe it turned out very nice, and I am hoping that this customer enjoys her products she ordered as well as the ones I sent her. (I kept them a secret in case someone else wants to order. I would not want to ruin the surprise for them)

Well, off to sort things needed as we leave Friday morning. Eek. Almost out of time!
Until later….. Keep smiling… Keep crafting… Keep having fun!!!
