Hello Crafty Friends and all others,
I am surviving the no AC in the house since the central unit has gone on strike. It’s cool in here still, despite the outside temps saying otherwise. Thank goodness we are also in our rainy season which brings lots of cloud coverage during the heat of the day. And as I sit here typing this post, I hear the daily afternoon thunder booms ( thunder) which may or may not be followed by some rain. It is hit or miss. Mostly miss for us. LoL
Anyhow, on to today’s fun crafty goodness. I wanted to step away from making a card for the time being, and instead created two tags, using the same stamp set and supplies.
I started by die cutting two large tags from our Tag Set steel rule die (there are three tags on it- small, medium, and large) from some scrap buttercream cardstock I had in my scrap bin. Then I pulled out my awesome Journey Gel Press and some acrylic paints.
I will start with Tag 1. The paints used for the background on this tag were Candy Apple, Citrus Cooler, Lemon Drop, Limeade Splash, and Beach Ball. I just put some small drops of the paint in a line, then used the Journey Brayer to blend it slightly. Once that was done, I laid the tag done and lightly pressed on it, picking up the paint from the gel press. Then set aside to dry.
On to Tag 2. I used the following acrylic paints for the print- Pineapple Smoothie, Bubblegum, and Cool Pool. I did the same as above using these colors. However instead of a line, I added the paint to the gel press in a random order of dots. Then blended using brayer. Again- placed tag on top of the paint, and lightly pressed to pick up paint from the gel press. Also allowed the second tag to dry completely before doing the next step.
Back to Tag 1. (Are you keeping up? Hope so. 🙂 )
I knew I wanted to make a semi-elegant background and glanced over to my AT stamps. and the top one was a new one I had not played with yet, and one I really like- Ornate Blooms. I used Clear Pigment ink to stamp the image across the tag at a slight angle, then using the edges of the stamp, I filed in the missing areas. I then covered the ink with gold embossing powder and heat embossed it. I knew I did not want to cover the entire background with more cardstock, so I opted to use Journey Vellum which allows the color to still come through, although muted. I love our White Liner Sheets (they are basically just full sheets of our white liner tape, or double sided sticky heaven!) I adhered a sheet of the vellum to a white liner sheet, and then cut a small strip for the center of the tag. Placed it on the tag, and once I liked the placement, I burnished it with the crease tool, making sure the adhesive made contact to the surface below it. I put a small bit of easy glide tape in center of it, and then placed some looped Gold Journey thread. I then took some scrap Limeade Splash cardstock and stamped the *Spread Love wherever you go* sentiment from *Spread Love* stamp and die set in clear pigment ink. Using gold embossing powder, I embossed it before using the matching die to cut it out. I then used foam squares to pop it up on top of the thread. Finished up by adding some Gold Sequins, and brushed Sparkle Silk over the sentiment for some shine.
Here is Tag 1:
Okay, so perhaps this post is a bit long. I am so sorry. Future posts won’t be as long. 🙂
Tag 2 is basically the same, except for a few different elements used. Instead of embossing the background, I used Journey Gel Medium and one of our new stencils (Wallpaper). Then as that dried, I cut from the vellum leftover from earlier, a hot air balloon from the Adventure Trio Die Set. Adhered it in place and highlighted the hot air balloon with Lemon Drop and Hazelnut panpastels using my fingertip. Used a black pen to highlight the ropes. Using the *Oh so Happy* stamp from the *Spread Love* set, I used an extra small piece of whip cream cardstock and some black embossing powder on it . Heat set it. Then used the matching die to cut it out. Popped it up on tag. Sprinkled Silver Silk over entire tag, as well as brushing the balloon with Sparkle Silk to make it stand out some more. Final touches were the Blue Skies Sequins and Gold Journey Thread. I also lined both backs with scrap Limeade Splash cut using the Tag Set die to help make them sturdier.
And Tag 2:
Both together 🙂 I have to say I had a lot of fun creating these two. Love getting inky!
