Not Only Seasons Change

Today is the second morning after the news we received Thursday night during FSJ’s monthly web meeting. So much to take in. So much to think over. And so many emotions from not only myself but also those I have come to admire and call friends. Let me start from the beginning…

Thursday evening instead of our usual meeting, our CEO, Greg Tipscord led the meeting with some shocking news to many. FSJ will NO longer be a Direct Sales Marketing Company effective 1 November 2018, but will convert to a Hybrid Retail model. The company has partnered with Spellbinders (who shares the same investor group RAF) and will soon have a combined online site etc. I am still processing some of the information, and do not wish to put out inaccurate news, so I am not revealing everything until I fully understand my stance on this current situation.

What I can say is that effective 1 November 2018, my shop links WILL NO LONGER be live. Effective 1 November 2018, the current catalog we have will STILL be active, with some changes. The printed copy will be used still,  yet there will be information in it that is no longer current (Such as Bloom Benefits, Bloom Box, Start Up Kits, etc).

However, on a happier note, effective 1 November 2018, I will have creative freedom to combine and promote ANY product other than FSJ, as my contract with them will no longer be valid. I joined FSJ before the company launched officially in 2014, and have watched it grow and seen many changes, as most companies experience. Some I’ve liked and others not so much. Just like with other companies, you adapt as needed to move forward. I was considered a Founding Coach, and have loved my time with FSJ, and hoped to see the company go further. Now I have a huge decision weighing on my shoulders as where do I go from here. I do know I will always create, and in a lot of ways, I am looking forward to the new freedom in front of me. I LOVE FSJ products! I truly do, however I also enjoy crafting with other brands etc. ( I believe many of us are that way too)

On this note, the next few weeks, I may not be blogging as I had hoped. I have a lot to sort through, as well as redesign some company branding images. I am proud to have been (And still am as of this posting) a Fun Stampers Journey Independent Coach. I am honored to have been part of this awesome company. Tonight I will leave it in God’s hands and see where my path takes me. Who knows, now may be my time to venture out on my own and make a name for myself. 🙂

Thanks for being understanding as I go through some changes in my crafting life- and too think the seasons just changed too- from summer to fall/autumn. Seasons not only change, but we do too. As well as so much around us. It helps us grow; if we let it.

Have a great weekend, and I will be back next week with an update of what is going on.

Hugs and Blessings,
Keni

Hello Crafty Friends,

Change-Ahead-Sign.jpg

So, apparently when I set my posts up last week, I messed up the schedule dates. However, this is a good thing.  Gives me a chance to pop in and give you a quick heads up that FSJ is making some major changes beginning 1 Nov, 2019. I cannot go into detail just yet. As I gather more information and learn more of how it will affect not only me but also my customers, I will be sure to keep you all updated. 🙂 I will say that with this change I will have more creative freedom, and I am excited about that!!

So thank you for being so patient with me as I work through these kinks. More posts will be forthcoming!! With more creativity!!

Have a great rest of your night, and happy crafting!

Hugs and Blessings,
Keni

Tools, Tips, and Techniques (Shared via FSJ)

Hello Crafty Friends,

By the time this posts, I will just about to dismebark in San Juan, PR for the day.  Since I knew I would be busy before leaving for our cruise, I prepared a couple of video share posts for the days we are away on our cruise.

FSJ has their own YouTube channel and offer some nice videos for viewing.  Recently, they started a series called Tools, Tips, & Techniques (T3). The one I am sharing with you features one of my favorite products- our liquid colors. 🙂

Enjoy the video. And if interested in more info regarding LC, please contact me and I will get back to you once we are back on land. ( I am away until Monday. 17 Sept).

Until the next time, have a happy day creating. And remember… it is more than just ink on paper!!

Nautical Pocket Card Thanks

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today’s project was inspired by my upcoming 7 day cruise. Although we always prepay our gratuities, I wanted a little something to give to those who go above and beyond their job. You know how there are always those awesome crew members that really stand out in some way. Mike and I like to show our gratitude by giving them a little extra other than what they deem reasoable to pay.

I started out by die cutting Demin Days cardstock into 4.25″x5.5′ sheets, and then used the Pocket Card die to diecut them. I then used now retired (but a personal favorite) 6×6 Nautical Adventures paper pad to add some panels to the pocket card. I picked random sheets and used them all on the pocket cards. The paper pad is double-sided so I was able to pick and choose as needed.  I then cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock down to make a small card (I did not measure but eyed it) to fit in the pocket.  I adhered some matching paper from the pad to the front as well. On the front of the pocket, I added a small tag cut from our Tag Time punch andn stamped the word Thanks on it. Added some Black Journey Thread tied into a bow and stapled on tag.  to complete the pocket card, I added a small piece of Oatmeal Cookie Satin Ribbon stapled on top of back panel of pocket card. Left inside of the mini card blank so we can write a personal message once on board the ship. 🙂  I may make a few more as *Just in case we need extras.*

Hope you enjoyed today’s fun creation. What have you been crafting lately?  Leave me a comment below and let me know. 🙂  I look forward to seeing your comments.

Have a crafty week… Until next time!!

Happy Friday!

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have taken a few days away from social media ( other than a couple comments here or there ) to re-energize myself. I sometimes find it very peaceful as well as sanity saving to unplug and just enjoy the blessings that surround me.  Anyhow, although I was silent online, I did take time to complete a Journey Coach Color Challenge.  It is a private group for us Journey Coaches, and we have monthly color challenges. Since the group is fairly new, the challenges to get us started are simple and easy.  My kind of challenge these days. LoL Anyhow, to go along with August’s promotion of select mixed media products being 20% off, we were encouraged to used 2,3, or 4 colors of paint, or use pan pastels, to create a project that we are working on.  I knew I wanted to do a canvas but was unsure until I sat down at my desk.

I first started by treating my canvas with some Journey Gesso, and once it dried, I brushed on Cool Pool and Beach Ball paint to make a background of streaky blues.

canvas

Once that was dried, I pondered over what to do, add, etc. I knew I wanted to create something whimsical and after going through my stash of current products, I decided to go with a Christmas theme. I grabbed my Winter Wonderland stencil, Journey Modeling Paste, and a spatula, and then carefully applied the paste over the stencil to create snowflakes on my background. Before it had time to dry completely, I sprinkled a few Journey Silver Shavings on the wet paste, as well as sprayed a light coat of Silver Splash over it all to give it a winter shadow. (Sadly my phone died and I did not have my charger or a camera with me at the other house that day, so I did not get step by step photos during the process.)

As the paste dried, I pulled out the Advent Buttons I had in my stash, and played around creating a fun Christmas tree. Wish I had more than one set at this point. I would have loved a more dimensional effect for my tree. Before I added the tree, I placed some Journey Thread across the canvas and glued into place with a light coat of glaze. Before the glaze could dry I used a scrap piece of Corrugated Cardstock for the tree truck. At this point, I adhered the buttons to the canvas and painted them with gesso, before applying a blend of Green Olive and Limeade Splash. , allowing a tad bit of the original Advent Buttons to show through. I added a layer of Journey Glaze to seal the buttons and lightly dusted with some more Silver Shavings.  I then adhered some Bloom Benefit (one of the free products you can pick when you have an order of $75 or more) sequins to use as ornaments. Added a few Cut Rhinestones as well. I then free-hand cut some *presents* and added Perfect Bows on two and Journey Thread on one. I dusted one of the gifts with some Sparkle Dust, added the Merry Christmas paper clips from the Merry Clips accents, and a start cut from Brushed Silver Cardstock using the Star-dom cutting and piercing dies.

Overall, it was a whimsical tree, and I believe it will look cute in the guest bathroom once I use a sealer to seal the canvas.
